Vlog Ep. 209: Grocery Shopping

Tonight's very chill Sunday #BaduyPride topic was all about grocery shopping and all the quirks of this particular essential chore. Maybe at one point, it wasn't as fun an activity as it is now, but we certainly fully embrace how fulfilling it is, especially when you manage your own household or at least cook your own meals. And hopefully, everyone finds the joy in grocery shopping in their own time.

Of course, the funny bit about today was us talking about quite a number of pet peeves when it comes to our supermarket runs. I guess we're just very focused on being efficient and getting in and out of there with a minimum of fuss, especially with the pandemic far from over. But hey, we can't control everyone and we all just make the most of things.

Vlog Ep. 208: SOGIE Talk

In our first #BaduyPride episode in celebration of Pride Month, we decided to risk having an open and honest conversation about SOGIE. We don't claim to be experts on the subject, which is the case for many of us I'm sure. But what is more important is how we all have the capacity to remain open and have the ability to learn and work with others to better ourselves.

This snowballed into a much larger conversation that lasted for like two hours. But in the end, it was a good discussion and perhaps the first of many that will need to happen in order for all of us to get a better handle on things. More than our efforts to help people better understand SOGIE, it was also a good conversation about the complexity of explaining the subject, its importance to the greater LGBT rights movement in the country (and maybe the world), and other related subjects.

While we chose today's topic, we're always open to suggestions! If you have ideas for future video discussions, feel free to fill out this Google Form and your idea may be featured as the focus for an episode!

Vlog Ep. 207: Cracking The Crystal Maze

Despite a number of technical difficulties, we managed to get through tonight's #BaduyPride episode about one of our favorite television shows - The Crystal Maze! And it was even more awesome when one of the guys behind The Crystal Maze Fan Group Blog joined the stream to help geek out with us about the program.

I knew we were going to have fun with this episode, but even I was surprised at how deeply we got into it given Tobie and I haven't really talked about the show all that much in recent years. It just goes to show what a near-universal impact the game show had on everyone who had a chance to catch it and maybe our dreams of some sort of local incarnation of the show may actually come to life.

On to YouTube to watch some classic episodes!

Vlog Ep. 206: All About Chocolate

This episode of #BaduyPride was all about CHOCOLATE. These Tuesday food-related topics can be tricky to manage as we start our intermittent fasting window but they're still a lot of fun. And this episode really stressed just how diverse chocolate is. And despite me being on keto, I at least still have a lot of viable chocolate options that keeps this treat a part of my life.

It also feels like a lot of the best chocolate is forever trapped in the memories of our respective childhoods. Things like Magnolia Chocolait or Serg's Chocolates are now defunct (with respect to their original versions) and may never truly return. Or maybe things just seem better in how we remember them versus the reality. The human experience is funny that way.

While we chose today's topic, we're always open to suggestions! If you have ideas for future video discussions, feel free to fill out this Google Form and your idea may be featured as the focus for an episode!

Vlog Ep. 205: Tossing Up a Point Salad

Today's tabletop game-focused episode of #BaduyPride was also a request - Point Salad as created by Molly Johnson, Robert Melvin, and Shawn Stankewich. This 2-6 player game was published by the CMON via the Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) - or something like that. AEG's family of companies confuses me at times.

Beyond this being a surprisingly complex card drafting and set collection game, it's also a game that is dear to our hearts because of specific circumstances around the game. It can seem silly to think of a game more because of a song you had playing in the background one of the first times you played the game. But that's really how memories are crafted - different things can make things memorable and you carry those memories with you.

Na, na, na.
