But ultimately the only reasons I need are these:
I love you and you love me.
I am a happier and better person with you in my life.
And I know I do the same to you.
Here's to welcoming the coming year with a bang!
Our journey continues.

A Journey to the 2012 Pride March
Rocky and I hit the streets of Makati to attend the 2012 Pride March this year. Admittedly, I wasn't sure if we were going this year, given the many events that filled up this year. But when Rocky told me he was excited for this year's march, I knew I had to consider what options we had on what we could wear. In the last march that we were both able to attend, we were wearing shirts that had designs inspired by the PSP game Patapon. For this year, we talked about shirt designs but couldn't finalize something that seemed to work.
Then just early this week, inspiration struck while I was at Paranaque and I ended up creating a design inspired by another PlayStation game which we absolutely love: Journey. We had to face some hurdles afterwards in getting it done, with the supplier of the shirts informing us we had to wait til Saturday morning before we could get the finished product.
Thankfully though, things fells into place. And while I don't have the photos of today's wonderful experience (those Rocky will post in due time), I can at least share for now the designs I made for the march. Hopefully you guys will like it (as well as the geeky touches we added to the sashes).
Happy Pride Everyone!

Excited for Pride March 2012!
See, even the Journey nomad is smiling in excitement. Hard to tell, I know. |
Aren't you marching with us? And don't think that only out gay men and women are the ones who march. The LGBT Pride March is for the both the LGBT community and to our many straight friends who support for our fight for gay rights in the Philippines.
So yes, I expect to see ALL OF YOU at the march this Saturday! And that's not even considering the street bazaar AND the commitment ceremony for LGBT couples. See you at the Makati City Hall Quadrangle!

Gay Geeks (and Transformers) for LGBT Pride
This Saturday, December 8, 2012, is this year's annual Metro Manila Pride March. Instead of the past venues like Malate or Quezon City, this year's :LGBT Pride March will be held at Makati City - which is kind of a big things since this is pretty much the business capital of the country.
In honor of the big march (and because I enjoy playing with my Transformers), I took the time to get some of my robots together for a quick photo shoot in an attempt to recreate the LGBT Pride Flag with their colors. And yes, the combination of Optimus Prime, Wheelie, Bumblebee, Hound, Soundwave and Shockwave roughly correspond to the flag colors of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.
And why use Transformers? Besides the fact that I have so many of them, you have to admit there are bound to be a lot of potentially gay robots in the ranks. I mean seriously, with less than 10 female Transformers on all of Cybertron, what else are those robots going to do?
See you gay geeks on Saturday!

Christmas at the Sietch
Yesterday Tobie and I finally put up the Sietch's very first Christmas tree. It's nothing fancy - just a 2-foot tall thing that now sits atop one of the Transformers shelves - hence the unusual gang of Dinobots and Insecticons guarding the base of the tree.
It's time to start being happy again. Time to go back to being baduy. And Christmas seems to be the perfect time to get started on this track.
Happy Holidays! Let's make this December extra BADUY!!!

Not So Baduy Anymore
It has been a month since the ASA Family ended. No need to discuss reasons at this point - just sharing the current state of things.
I'm not sure what to do with this blog just yet - for now it remains as an archive of the hapiness of the relationships it witnessed. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Thanks for your continued support. Hopefully this blog will find new purpose in the future.

Great Kylie Videos Unlocked on Twitter
Kylie Minogue will always play a key role here at Baduy Pride given how her songs of love celebrate many of the things that make our Baduy Pride life so fantastic. For all three of us in the ASA Family. we've found common ground in her music with different songs having different meanings for each of us.
So it's nice to see that she's still very much active in terms of creating new songs to celebrate plus her marketing team is really active in the social media sphere. She's had a few of these interesting "tweet to unlock" contests where she asks her Twitter followers to use a particular hash tag in order to reach a goal number of tweets to "unlock" the video. One of the recent experiments involved her latest video for Time Bomb, which resulted in over 25,000 tweets using the hash tag within a span of 43 minutes! And it's definitely a song that we love to hear any time we're at O Bar!
And just last night at 02:00am, Kylie launched another tweet to unlock challenge, this time for an exclusive video to help celebrate Pride. And again over 10,000 tweets using the hash tag #KyliePride resulted in unlocking this exclusive video of her performance at the Australian Mardi Gras!
So yes, the internet is a GREAT place to celebrate the love and who better to celebrate love with than our favorite showgirl Kylie Minogue herself?

Since PNoy Loves Copying Obama...
Given how our President, Benigno "PNoy" Aquino III tends to copy his US counterpart President Barrack Obama in a lot of things such as his campaign centered around tapping the youth vote, winning through popularity and his supposed savvy for social media and new communication channels, it would be interesting to see just how far PNoy will go to copy President Obama.
In an interview with ABC News' Robin Roberts, President Obama went on record to state his support same-sex marriage in the United States.
His statement as quoted by The Advocate:
“I’ve stood on the side of broader equality I hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought civil unions would be sufficient,” the president said. “But I have to tell you that over the course of several years, as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that 'don't ask, don't tell' is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama said.So way to go President Obama! Sure, he could have done this a lot earlier in the term and words can seem cheap considering how he's dragged his feet with a lot of key LGBT issues, but that's in the past. What's more important is the fact that he has finally done something that no other sitting US President has ever done by making such a strong statement of public support for gay marriage. And that's something worth celebrate.
Your move, PNoy. Doesn't everyone deserve the chance to love whomever they want?

Three Months of FAMILY LOVE
Relationships are never easy, and no one ever claimed that would be the case. And for an especially a-typical relationship such as what Tobie, Prince and I share, there's definitely a lot of possible complications to deal with. It's just the nature of human relationships - each come with our unique character traits that sometimes work and sometimes don't when brought all together.
But here we are, still together and still strong after three months of being a family. And I know I keep talking about how conventional terms don't precisely describe our relationship, it seems the term family really does fit us best. We no longer think of ourselves as just boyfriends - we see each other as husbands, true partners in this relationship. We celebrate our passions together, even when we don't necessarily like the same things. We face life's challenges together. We celebrate love, because that's what families do.
So as we officially mark our third anniversary together, allow me to go through a few of the events in the past month that mark our journey to this point.

We Survived Holy Week at Galera
Despite the numbers, the stresses, the minor injuries from all sorts of things, and the rough waters we had to cross, the ASA family continues to grow stronger and stronger. This love we three share definitely continues to do the impossible.
I love you Prince. I love you Rocky.
And I will never give up on us.

Two Months of Being a Family
Today marks our second full month of being in one of the more unique relationships around. Instead of calling what Tobie, Prince and I share a "threesome" or a "ménage à trois", it seems the term family best suits us. In fact, we've started to refer to ourselves as the ASA Family, given ASA is an acronym of our last names Abad-Sunico-Angeles. This sort of replaces the old Pamilya Egg term, especially since Nico is now coming to terms with the fact that he now has an additional "dad" to deal with, hehe.
So what have we been up to over the past 30 days? Let's breeze through the photo memories, shall we?

When a Month Already Feels Like a Lifetime
Well, it's official. Tobie, Prince and I have been together as a little Sietch Family for a full month now. But dang, it feels like we've been together for years. Tobie said it's probably because we've been living every moment together to the fullest, or something along those lines. And I can totally see how that makes sense. Time flies when you're having fun after all, and thus we've managed to compress years of experiences (both happy and sad) into a scant 30 days.
And we've only just begun.
To be fair, I know we have a long way to go. We're still learning more and more about one another. We're still creating new routines to incorporate our shared lives together. And we're working through those occasional wrinkles and hiccups along this new journey we've embarked upon together. And such challenges once overcome only make us stronger and reaffirm our love for one another.
We still haven't figured out a term that best describes us and what we have. From a pet name perspective we call one another love, love love and baby. That evolved into using the abbreviations B1, B2 and B3 in order to make group chats and text messages easier to understand. (And in case you're wondering, I'm B1, Tobie is B2 and Prince is B3). And that evolved even further to refer to us as B-Vitamins since we all certainly feel a boost in energy and happiness when we're all together. But still, I feel we need a better term for this unique relationship.
The word threesome has too many sexual connotations. Ménage à trois lacks that sense of permanence and stability. A friend recommended the Filipino term Maharlika in reference to the old class structures and taking on multiple spouses, which is fun although it'll probably sound a tad pretentious in some circles.
But that's just a minor point to consider, when you get down to it. But it does make for fun thinking and conversation.
So here's to technically one month of happiness together my babies! Thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for making me feel loved in a way so unique it defies description. And thank you for allowing me to take care of you and show you just how much you both mean to me.
The future can only get better and brighter. And we have so many lives to life at the rate we're going - and I'm excite to explore every new horizon with both of you by my side.
Mwahugs.

One month soon... And that's just the beginning!
Some of the readers of Baduy Pride might have been wondering why I haven't been posting updates. To be honest, a large part of is has simply been because I've been way too busy with all these other things on my plate (new job, old job with more work, gaming, etc). Heck, I haven't really been updating Blame it on the Rain, Bro or The Garapata Can Speak! But just in case there are those who are reading my lack of updates as a negative thing, allow me then to post this.
Once upon a time, I discovered that there is a wonderful thing about holding close to your heart an Egg. An Egg, you see is a world of potential waiting to be unleashed. An Egg is something fragile, yet made to be so tough it can be impossible to break unless you attack it the right way. An Egg is about beginnings. An Egg is about the future waiting to be born.
I was blessed in my life to find an Egg I can call my own. And while it may have taken an epic quest in its own way to win the right and pride to say, "This is my Egg" it was a quest I had no qualms of undertaking. After all, when you see someone you believe you deserve to be with, and deserves to be with you too, then no force in the world, or the next one, should be able to stop you. And so, back then, against the good-meaning-but-mislaid advice of friends, against expectations, and against fallen dragons and broken gods, I rose to the challenge and extended a hand that held my heart. "Take it," I was saying, "And keep it if you want to. I won't be asking for it back. But if you ever decide you don't want to keep it anymore, just let me know and I'll leave, pieces and all." (No, those weren't the exact words. Forgive me, I'm feeling a tad melodramatically narrative today.)
To my joy, to my surprise, fate smiled and destiny, he chose me.
Rocky and I have been together for nearly three years now. Regardless of how rough the waters get, or how strange the weather shifts, if there is anything I can say with absolute certainty, it is this: Rocky is happy. I am happy. And we are happy because our love inspires us to make each other happy.
This year, Rocky and I found ourselves rediscovering the boundaries of love. And we are learning that what others deemed as perfection was, in truth, just the beginning of even grander and more beautiful things. In a place where hearts and sometimes beer bottles might often find themselves broken, we found a lonely planet zipping through the world fueled by the passion to flow past all odds. We found a quiet world which believed the universe was by nature chaotic. And lonely. And cruel. We found a little Prince sitting in his quiet world, wondering why the rose he cares for never truly bloomed.
And before either of us could really grasp what was happening, we realized we had so much more love to share. And what we thought was a unique wavelength, we discovered did not believe in being limited to just two charges. I admit, there was fear. There was uncertainty. There was caution. We're still wondering through the woods at times, but in these woods we find ourselves growing stronger. Braver. Bolder. And in many ways better. But undeniably there as well were the signs that showed us where two stood, three could flourish. The Prince. The Egg. And me, a lonely dog who never knew he was a dog. Suddenly the world was larger than we had thought. Suddenly preconceived notions were tested. And suddenly, we realized while Rocky and I may have created a world of love, we now stood at the opportunity to share that world... and to be enriched as well.
In a few days, we hit our first month together. And by together I mean us three. Old existing (and often abused) terminologies seem inappropriate or insufficient to define the outpouring of love that now contains us three. And admittedly, while things are still young - while there are still moments of fear, still opportunities to relearn things, and still regressive days where self-doubt or insecurities awaken - we have learned that this new life we share is such a tsunami of happiness that we feel... nay, we know we can survive anything so long as we remember to hold on to each other.
As impossible as it may sound to search for an image of what looks like the Little Prince, an Egg and a dog, guess what... I found one. I know, that's really supposed to be a planet. And the dog is probably a wolf. But considering that really ain't a Prince, I feel it is a good reflection of how one views life. Does one allow himself to be hindered by all the negativity and needs to conform... or does one say, "My happiness is more important than your anal need to be right and me wrong" and instead live a life celebrating joy? True, it ain't perfect, but it I ultimately believe it is worth it. Because with us, love does reign on top. And just like the many hues and colors that the rainbows show, there's a broader spectrum out there that is just as real as everything else.
We found love.
And we deserve this.

First Virtual Date
Tobie's new job has him working in Makati in the daytime for some days of the week, leaving me as the sole night shift worker between us. So today Prince and Tobie managed to squeeze in some time for a quick lunch meet-up at Hen Lin, so I opted to "join them" by having a Hen Lin lunch of my own over at Ali Mall.
Welcome to our first virtual date!
It doesn't matter where we are in the city or even in the world - the three of us always find ways to feel together. Love really helps in that regard given how it can traverse distances, oceans and maybe even multiverses.

But where's Rocky? |
Meanwhile in Cubao... |

Last Video From Our Clark Adventure
Tobie, Prince and I had an amazing time at Clark, Pampanga for the 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. It was a weekend of many new memories plus new home videos for our Baduy Pride memories!
Remind me to write a more formal post to discuss the different terms we use to call ourselves. Baduy Pride is still the name of the blog and that's just the tip of the iceberg, hehe.

First February 2012 Photo Update
Ack! Things have been rather crazy ever since we got back from Singapore. Between dealing with our respective work backlog queues and getting the Sietch back in order, we haven't had much time to update this blog. Plus there have been a lot of developments related to Prince and maximizing every moment with him has taken priority over just writing about stuff.
To get better caught up, you can always check out my personal blog, since I religiously post daily updates there. Or you can just skim through the following images:
And even more images after the cut!

Prince Singapore Diary 06: Chinatown
I originally planned to have a lot of shots in Chinatown as we toured the various shops, looked for interesting deals and all that good stuff.
But then we found the Tintin Shop and that just ate up all our time.
So instead we ended up with this short 2 minute video. And I hate myself for not taking a video in the shop, but dang we had a lot of fun there.
And that was our Singapore trip. Hope you enjoyed the videos, Prince! And for the rest of you, well, hope you enjoyed sharing in our baduyness.

Prince Singapore Diary 05: Botanic Gardens
For our last day in Singapore, we didn't have much planned at first, which was rather boring. And since we wanted to make sure we made the most of the trip and ensured that Prince had a fun video to enjoy, we opted to add one more itinerary item to our agenda - to visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
But we hadn't expected the park to be that big or the paths so winding and twisty. So a simple walk became a major hike.
But it was still a lot of fun and totally worth the following video:

It's a shame we couldn't take video inside the museum or in the theater, but I think we did a pretty good job with what we were allowed to.
One more day in Singapore to go! Can't wait to get home to our baby!
